I’ve written and re-written this response. Here is the outcome.
My favourite lyrics are ones that make me feel something. Often they make me feel invincible.. More recently they’ve forced me to feel things I don’t want to feel. But they know best.
Sadly there are too many specific examples to possibly choose, but I’ll tell you this. Laura marking, Paul Simon and The Tallest Man On Earth have a terrible habit of breaking me down and rebuilding me over the course of 3 minutes.
In terms of my own writing I am especially fond of the writing in my newest songs (which can be found on soundcloud.com/jessedanielsmith) as they are literal tales with very little poetic flourish.
"I do what’s right for us like I’m paid to hurt" is especially sad for me. But beautiful for that reason.
Thank you for asking such a bold question!
Thanks for taking the time to let me know!
I’m still in awe at how many unique and interesting people choose to write to me. I feel blessed to be involved in so many lives on a daily basis.
I will happily continue to listen as long as their are people who would like to speak!
There’s a small town about twenty minutes away from Rome called “Frescati”.. If you’re looking for a true, unfiltered Italian experience I would highly recommend checking it out! Beautiful little town centre with lots of traditional pizza and cafés, great gelato, bars and locals.
Enjoy your trip and be safe!
That is a very thoughtful thing to say to someone who is trying his best.
Thank you so very much for listening and letting me know!
Thank you for letting me know! That song was inspired by the ending of my last long term relationship. I had a bunch of questions in my head that needed answering, so I wrote them down rationalized what exactly happened.
When I found the notes I figured they would make a beautiful song.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for listening,
